I was glad to be in such close vicinity to this year's Media Tech convention which was held from 12-14 June 2007 at the Sandton Convention Centre. It was a great experience to see the many enthusiastic people who are all either crazy or just crazy about their products and services.

It was quite a mouth watering exhbition with Apple IMC demo-ing the latest and greatest in Apple software, Final Cut Studio 2 and the like. Sony was in full force too with their cool, sheek Cocktails bar too.

My boyfriend was uncontrollable at Media Tech, he was so in his element that it was beautiful to watch. He spent every spare moment trying to explain what all his favourite pieces of equipment and applainces can do and what it's used for.

It was really nice having the expert around to do this as Media Tech could be a little overwhelming to the first timer. All in all it was moving to see how many people get excited about sound and audiovisual production in South Africa. It's a pity that we do not know how to properly appreciate the fine talent that we have holding down our radio stations, music, television and film industries here in SA.

Like Thomas "Bad Boy T" Msengana on the breakfast show at Metro fm says every morning, "All talent wants is to be used". How true a statement that is...
